On December 24th I went to see the famous Christmas Lights in the Brooklyn neighborhood called Dyker Heights. The Christmas decorations there have become a part of the neighborhood’s identity and is now one Brooklyn’s big tourist attractions. The whole community participates with decorations, lights as well as recorded Christmas music playing from speakers non stop from early morning to midnight . The most notable decorations are on 84th Street between 11th and 12th avenues. Expect big crowds of tourists and other spectators, if you can wait until after Christmas you might be better off. The lights are up until early January.

In order to get to Dyker Heights from Manhattan take the D-train to 79th street in Brooklyn, or take the R-train to 86th Street and from there the B1 or B6 bus to 12th avenue.
