First Street Green Park, First Street Green Cultural Park, First Street Green Art Park, or just FSG – It has a variety of names the little big park on East 1st Street by Houston Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Since 2008 this abandoned building lot has been serving the local community as an open art space. Artists from all over the world have come here to create the famous murals, often colorful and with a clear political message.

It is a New York City legacy that lives on on the walls at First Street Green Park. This type of street art, murals, dates back to the early 1970’s when graffiti started getting more sophisticated.

There are also other cultural activities in the park during the summer, music, theater, and lectures, to mention just a few.
